Before you come
Your first visit
Heat, then cold, then sitting still, as many times as you feel like in 60 minutes. Everything below is logistics. Read the safety guidance before you book rather than after. The name is said SEK-hem.
What to bring
- Two towels. One to sit on in the sauna, one for use after your session when showering. Sitting on your sauna towel is essential for hygiene purposes.
- Swimwear. All sessions are clothed.
- A suitable water bottle. Glass bottles/glasses/glass straws are not permitted for safety reasons. Please note that water bottles can become very hot in the sauna. We recommend using a specific sauna bottle or bottle sleeve, these are available to purchase from reception.
- Flip-flops, if you like them. Please be aware that outdoor shoes are not permitted past reception so only bring clean, dry flip flops that have not been worn outside.
If you forget your towel, please ask at the desk. We have small and large towels available to hire or purchase. Leave anything valuable at home.
When to arrive
On your first visit we ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your booked session time. This time is essential for us offer guidance to ensure you get the best experience from your session.
If you are late, you will lose the equivalent time from your session. Each session runs for 60 mins and includes time for changing, showering and using both the sauna, ice bath and cold drench facilities. You may use the relaxation suite for up to 60 mins either before, during or after your session (dry clothes only in the relaxation suite). Sessions are not extended for late arrivals and you may be denied entry where late arrival disrupts the session for other guests.
What facilities are included?
- We offer shoe and coat storage at reception (not secure so please leave valuables at home).
- There is one toilet and two shower/changing rooms. We do not supply hair styling tools, however there are sockets available in the shower/changing rooms should you wish to bring your own. We ask that during busy sessions you minimise time spent on hair styling/make up and change quickly in order to respect other guests who may be waiting to use changing facilities.
- Body wash is provided but you may bring your own if you'd prefer.
- There is adequate hanging storage in the hallway for personal belongings (not secure so please leave valuables at home).

Before you book
Please read and accept our Sauna & Cold Immersion Safety Guidance during the booking process.
- Sauna use can raise body temperature, heart rate and blood pressure and may result in dehydration, dizziness, light-headedness, nausea, overheating or fainting. There is also a risk of burns, slips, trips and falls.
- Cold-water immersion can cause a sudden physiological response known as cold-water shock. This can cause an involuntary gasp, rapid or uncontrolled breathing, increased heart rate and blood pressure, dizziness, panic or loss of coordination. In some circumstances, cold-water immersion can place significant stress on the cardiovascular system.
- Moving repeatedly between heat and cold can increase these physiological stresses and may increase the risk of dizziness, fainting or feeling unwell.
- There is no requirement to remain in the sauna or cold water for a particular length of time. Longer exposure does not necessarily provide greater benefit.
- Sauna and cold-water immersion may not be suitable for people with certain medical conditions or circumstances, including conditions affecting the heart, blood pressure, circulation, breathing, temperature regulation or consciousness.
- Certain medications may also affect your response to heat or cold.
- If you have a medical condition, take medication, are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, have recently undergone surgery or sustained a significant injury, or have any concern about whether sauna or cold immersion is appropriate for you, you should seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before using the facilities.
- Sekhem Sauna & Recovery does not provide medical advice and cannot determine whether the facilities are medically suitable for you.
- You are responsible for deciding whether you are fit and well enough to participate and for seeking appropriate medical advice where necessary.
